PhD student Sheila Jennings has received a prestigious Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Postdoctoral Fellowship that provides two years of federal funding ($81,000 in total) to assist with her postdoctoral project entitled Becoming Aware: An Exploration of Legal and Critical Consciousness with Mothers with Disabled Children.
“It is a highly competitive process, and it speaks to Sheila’s strong publication record and the pressing need for public policy solutions in the area of her research,” said Professor Dayna Scott, Director of Osgoode’s Graduate Program.
Jennings’ postdoctoral project will build upon her PhD work, still in progress, which is entitled The Right to Support? Severely Disabled Children and their Mothers. Professor Joan Gilmour is her PhD supervisor.
Jennings also received the Joseph-Armand Bombardier SSHRC award in 2011 for her PhD work.
