Mailing Lists
Service Details
Mailing Lists are available for use to send e-mails to groups of people including students, faculty and staff.
Administrative Mailing Lists
The administrative mailing lists can be used either by entering the e-mail address into the BCC field of an e-mail, or by selecting the list from the address book.
Selecting a Mailing List from the Address Book
If a mailing list is not in the table below, search the Outlook address book for the required mailing list:
- Compose a new e-mail in Outlook, and click To: to open the address book
- In the search box, type “O365-LW”
- From the list, select the mailing list you want to use, and click the BCC button

Changes to Mailing Lists
Viewing Current Membership
- Compose a new e-mail in Outlook, and click To: to open the address book
- In the search box, type “O365-LW”
- Right-Click on the group and click Properties to view the membership
Note: If the Mailing List contains that are external to York, they will not display. Request a complete membership list by e-mailing help@osgoode.yorku.ca for lists that contain members who are external to York.

Making Changes to Mailing Lists
If a mailing list needs to be changed, send an e-mail to help@osgoode.yorku.ca with details. Note that the request must come from the mailing list owner. The following items can be requested:
- Listing current members of a mailing list
- Removing members from a mailing list
- Adding members to a mailing list
- Removing a mailing list
- Creating a new mailing list

Using Personal Mailing Lists
You can create your own mailing lists in Outlook. Note that these mailing lists will only be available to you.
- Open Outlook and go into your Contacts
- On the toolbar, click the arrow next to New Contact and select Contact Group
- Beside the Name field, enter the name of the group
- Add members to the group
- Click Add Members
- For members in the address book, select From Address Book
- For members not in the address book, select New E-mail Contact
- Select the member or complete the New E-mail contact form
- Once all the members have been added to the group, click Save & Close
Note: It is recommended that you use the BCC field when sending e-mail to contact groups.
