A library card is required in order to borrow material from any York University library, including Osgoode Hall Law School Library. The type of library card a user requires is determined by their borrower type.

University Borrowers

Includes all faculty, students, and staff of York University and Osgoode, as well as affiliates, such as retired faculty and staff, field instructors, host teachers, adjunct professors, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars.

Your YUcard is also your library card. Without it, you cannot borrow library material. Visit the William Small Centre’s YUcard office to acquire your YUcard. Please consult the Osgoode Hall Law School Library loan policies and the York University Libraries Lending Code before borrowing.

Osgoode Professional Development Community

If you are an Osgoode Professional Development student and do not have a YUcard, phone the YUcard office at 416-736-5674 to book your pickup appointment indicating that you require one for library access. Please consult the Osgoode Hall Law School Library loan policies and the York University Libraries Lending Code before borrowing.

External Borrowers

External members may include York/Osgoode alumni, select members of the general public, direct borrowers from other Canadian universities, or those part of the Inter-University Borrowing Project (CREPUQ). Upon registration and payment of the appropriate fee below, a library card can be issued. Please note that due to licensing restrictions and other reasons, external borrower privileges are limited. Please consult the Osgoode Hall Law School Library loan policies and the York University Libraries Lending Code before borrowing.

Alumni

 

Upon presentation of a York Alumni Association card which can be obtained from the Alumni Affairs Office, York alumni may then purchase a library card, which is valid for one year from date of issue. No portion of the fee will be refunded if a borrower ceases to use the card during this time.

Direct Borrowers (faculty, students, staff from participating Canadian universities)

Please note that library cards issued for external borrowers (except Direct Borrowers) is valid for one year from the date of issue and is recognized at all York University Libraries.
