Library Study Spaces
The Osgoode Hall Law School Library offers full reference services and research assistance to students and faculty of Osgoode Hall Law School and York University, as well as to members of the legal profession and visitors. The Library can seat over 300 people at study tables, carrels and soft seating. Additionally, there are 12 group study rooms for exclusive use by Osgoode students. They can be booked online and require a valid Osgoode student email address. Keys to the group study rooms are kept at the Circulation Desk.
Harris-Taylor Family Reading Room
The Harris-Taylor Family Reading Room is located on the main floor, or upper level, of the library. Seating in this section is reserved for Osgoode law students only. You will find here:
- New books
- New faculty publications
- Current journal and periodical issues
- Group study rooms 1011J, 1011K, 1011L, 1011N, 1011P, 1011Q
- Library OPAC (online public access catalogue) computers
- Upper level printer and scanner (Osgoode students only)
McMillan LLP Reading Room
The McMillan LLP Reading Room is located on the lower floor, or lower level, of the library. This section is open to all library users and visitors. You will find here:
- Osgoode Stacks collection
- Reference collection
- Fiction collection
- Self-service kiosks to borrow books
- Printing and photocopying room, 0010A
- Moveable stacks (print journals, digests, reports, statutes) (for reference only)
- The John R. Cartwright Rare Book Room and Balfour Halévy Special Collections
- Group study rooms 001B 0013A, 0013B, 0013C, 0013D, 0013E
- The microform collection (south-west corner near the parking lot)
Users may move between the lower and upper levels by main staircase in the library, or by using the library-side elevator. The upper level elevator entrance is located across from the reference desk near the Harris-Taylor Family Reading Room entrance. The lower level elevator entrance is located across from the print and photocopy room, 0010A.
