Working with PDFs
Windows
If you have an Osgoode managed Windows computer, PDF-XChange PRO will be installed automatically.
Creating a PDF
- From a Microsoft Office Document: You can create a PDF directly from Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Click File -> Save as Adobe PDF
- From any other Document: You can create a PDF by printing any document and selecting the PDF-Xchange Standard This will create a PDF from your document. If you do not have an Osgoode managed computer, see Edit a PDF (Adobe Acrobat Pro) to do so using the application virtually.
Editing a PDF
When opening a PDF document, it will open automatically in PDF-Xchange Editor, which will allow you to edit the PDF.

macOS
Creating a PDF
- On the window you want to save as a pdf press Command + P
- A new window will appear, click on PDF on the bottom left corner
- Click Save as PDF
- Edit any fields needed
- Save the PDF to your OneDrive folder
Editing a PDF with macOS Preview
- Right click (control + click) on the PDF you want to edit
- Open with > Preview
- The PDF will open in Preview and can now be edited
Editing a PDF with Acrobat Pro
You can use Adobe Acrobat Pro virtually through the MyApps service.
- Sign In to https://myapps.yorku.ca using your Passport York credentials
- Click the arrow underneath Adobe Acrobat Pro and click Remote
- Follow the prompts to install the AppsAnywhere client (this only needs to be done the first time)
Access Files on FAS Shared Volumes
- Click File – Open – This PC
- Your network shares should map automatically to open and save files
- If the network shares do not map, see Accessing FAS Shared Volumes Remotely and follow the Map Network Share instructions to access the network share
Access Files on OneDrive
- Click Add Account on the left side
- Click OneDrive
- Sign In using your Passport York credentials (username@yorku.ca)
- You can now open and save files to your OneDrive storage
