New Staff
Welcome to Osgoode Hall Law School. We are happy to have you on board! Here’s some information on how you can get setup with your computing services.
- For additional information on our services, see all Services for Faculty and Staff
- If you need additional help, please e-mail help@osgoode.yorku.ca
Accounts
Your Passport York account is your sign in credential for all computing services. Your manager will have been in touch about creating a Passport York account. Please speak with your manager if you do not have your account.
Two-Factor Authentication: Note that when you sign in to your account, you will be prompted to setup two-factor authentication. The best way to do this is to install Duo Mobile from the App store or Google Play Store on your mobile phone or iPad, and then follow the instructions when prompted.
See Duo Two-Factor Authentication for detailed instructions and alternative setup methods.
Workstation
Your workstation will be setup for you at your desk. When you come in on your first day, please sign into your workstation using your Passport York credentials.
E-mail and Calendaring
Access your e-mail and calendar in the way that’s most convenient for you. See Accessing E-mail and Calendaring to access your e-mail on your desktop or on your mobile device.
Once you have access to your e-mail, follow these instructions to find out what your e-mail address is:
- Open the address book by clicking To in a new e-mail message
- Find your contact in the list
- The e-mail address displayed is your e-mail address
Mailing Lists
To send e-mails to pre-created groups (staff, students, faculty, etc.), mailing lists can be used.
The administrative mailing lists can be used either by entering the e-mail address into the BCC field of an e-mail, or by selecting the list from the address book.
See Mailing Lists for additional details.
File Storage Services
Files should not be stored on the local computer; there are various cloud storage options for files. All files should be stored in one of these three locations.
- Departmental Shared Drive – Your manager will help you understand the structure of your department’s network share. See the File Access Service page for more details.
- Departmental SharePoint – Your department has one or more SharePoint sites. Your manager will help you understand the structure of your department’s SharePoint sites. See the SharePoint and OneDrive Service page for more details.
- OneDrive – For any files that do not belong on a department share, such as notes, reference materials and temporary documents, store them on your York University OneDrive.
Printing and Scanning
Osgoode has high speed multi-function printers for printing and scanning documents.
